National Assembly's Culture and Arts Committee requests perjury charges against Lee Lim-saeng over 'Hong Myung-bo met alone'...asks for director's resignation

A national audit has called for Lee Im-sang, the technical director of the Korea Football Association, to be charged with perjury because his testimony that he was interviewed alone during the selection process of Hong Myung-bo as the national soccer team's head coach was false.

Representative Lee Ki-heon of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Sports and Tourism requested that Lee Lim-saeng, the technical director of the Korea Football Association, be charged with perjury during a national audit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related organizations held at the National Assembly today (Feb. 22).

Lee appeared as a witness at the committee's inquiry into the current affairs of the Korean Football Association on March 24, and when asked by Representative Cho Gye-won (Democratic Party of Korea), “Who accompanied coach Hong Myung-bo during the interview process,” Lee replied, “It was just me and coach Hong.”

However, the next day, 토토사이트 KBS confirmed that Choi Young-il, vice chairman of the Korea Football Association, was present at the meeting, and Democratic Party member Lee Ki-heon said at the National Assembly oversight session today, “It was confirmed by recording through the media (KBS Sports YouTube Wednesday Football Meeting) that Choi Young-il, vice chairman of the Korea Football Association, was present at the meeting where Lee met with the general manager.” “Our committee asks the chairman to charge Lee with perjury under the Parliamentary Amendment Act for giving false testimony,” he said.

The former chairman responded, “We will find a way to deal with perjury and the failure of agreed witnesses to appear at the committee level in a comprehensive manner.”

Lee, who was hospitalized last month for health reasons, including complaining of mental distress after the MOC's inquiry into the matter, has reportedly tendered his resignation through the Football Association. He is expected to submit a formal resignation letter soon and step down from his position.
